As we celebrate Christmas this week, remember to celebrate love. While gifts and cards can be wonderful ways of expressing our affection and appreciation for family and friends, let us also do so with tender moments, meaningful moments of engagement, and making memories.

In the pivotal third week of Advent, we pass the halfway point and begin joyfully anticipating the arrival of Christ. We celebrate Christ as the source and foundation of our joy, for we know all good things come from God, just as Christ was born to us through the love and mercy of the Father.

This year, with so many tragedies and so much political unrest, we are even more acutely aware of our desperate need for peace. More than ever, we must continue to live out and share the peace and love of Christ to those in our community and those outside of our circles or demographics alike. As Christians, we are called to reflect God’s light and offer his perfect peace to those we come in contact with in our day to day lives.

We have hope, because Christ was born to all of us. With no fanfare, no parade, no pomp, Jesus was born to a refugee family in a manger outside of an inn in Bethlehem. We have hope because even from his birth, Jesus was available and approachable by all.
